The First Generation of Honda NSX was introduced for the 1991 model year. The Honda NSX, which was sold as the Acura NSX in North America, was built in a coupe or targa body style and was powered by a mid-mounted V6 engine. These dynamic sports cars were developed in part by various racing drivers including the famed Ayrton Senna. Two evolutions of the 1st Gen NSX were built, the NA1 (1991-1998) and the NA2 (1998-2005). These cars are differentiated in part by their different engines, with the NA1 featuring a 3.0L V6, and the NA2 equipped with a larger 3.2L V6. The most notable 1st Gen variant built was the limited edition Type R, which was only offered in Japan. At the end of NA2 NSX production, Honda ceased production of the NSX before finally reviving the model for the 2017 model year as the Second Generation Honda NSX.
